Privacy Policy

This policy covers the website at travelswithhenry.com and the software we run behind the Travels with Henry YouTube channel. It is short because the site genuinely does very little with data, and we would rather tell you that plainly than pad it out.
Travels with Henry is run by one person. In this policy, "we" and "our" mean Travels with Henry, and you can reach us at henry@travelswithhenry.com.
1. What we collect
From visitors to this website: nothing that identifies you. There is no account to create, no newsletter, no comment form, no contact form, and no shop. We do not run Google Analytics or any other analytics product, and there are no advertising, social or tracking scripts on any page. You can confirm that by viewing the page source.
Server logs. Like any web server, ours records requests: the IP address, the page requested, the time, the browser's user agent string, and the page you arrived from if your browser sends one. This is ordinary web server logging, kept so we can see errors and abuse. IP addresses can count as personal data under GDPR, which is why we mention it rather than skipping past it.
If you email us, we keep the email. That is unavoidable and it is the only place we hold anything you have deliberately given us.
2. How we use it
Server logs are used to keep the site working and to investigate faults and abuse. Nothing else. We do not profile visitors, we do not build audience segments, and we do not sell, rent or share data with anyone for marketing.
Our lawful basis under GDPR for keeping server logs is legitimate interest: running a website securely is not possible without them.
3. Who we share it with
Nobody. The site runs on our own server rather than a hosting company's, so there is no third party processor sitting behind it, no CDN in front of it, and no external form or email service.
The exception is anything you choose to click. Following a link to YouTube takes you to Google, and what happens there is Google's business, described below.
4. Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies on an ordinary visit. No consent banner is shown because there is nothing to consent to. WordPress sets cookies only for a logged in administrator, which means us.
Episodes embedded on episode pages use YouTube's privacy enhanced player at youtube-nocookie.com. That means YouTube does not store viewing information about you unless you actually play the video. If you press play, or if you follow a link to YouTube, Google may set cookies and collect data under its own terms.
5. How long we keep things
Server logs rotate automatically and are kept for a matter of weeks, then deleted. Email is kept as long as the conversation is useful.
6. How we keep it safe
The site is served over HTTPS with a valid certificate. The server is maintained, patched and administered by us directly, with access limited to key based logins. No security is perfect, and we do not pretend otherwise, but there is also very little here to steal.
7. Children
The channel is made for adults, and the site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU, GDPR gives you the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to our processing it, and to receive a copy. In practice, unless you have emailed us, the only thing we are likely to hold is a server log line.
To exercise any of these, email henry@travelswithhenry.com. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority: in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office, and in the EU it is the authority for the country you live in.
9. Do Not Track
We do not track you, so a Do Not Track signal changes nothing about how this site behaves.
10. Our use of YouTube API Services
The software behind this channel uses YouTube API Services to upload our own episodes and manage our own channel's metadata. It touches only our channel and our content. It does not access, collect or store data about any other YouTube user or viewer, and it is an internal tool that is not offered to anyone else.
By using the embedded player or visiting YouTube you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.
The software stores no YouTube user data, so there is nothing to delete. The access it has to our own Google account can be revoked at any time at Google account permissions.
11. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, this page changes, and the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the honest signal.
